This home built in 2004 features early 12 over 12 windows, low wall height and a steep roofline to shed snow, all characteristics of a historic cape reproduction. Its form hugs the ground against the harsh surrounding climate. The mass of the center chimney is another feature of the early colonial style, since the fireplace below was necessarily large in order to both cook the food and heat the house. A rustic custom interior reflects the materials and trims of this early time and provides a harmonious backdrop for the owner's period furnishings. (Interior photos by Jim Westphalen Photography)
