The Oliver Haines House is a "Connecticut River Valley" house and much of the exterior detailing is a replication made from old plans compiled by the Historic American Building Survey and purchased from the U.S. Library of Congress. The broken scroll pediment entry is typical of the period when individual craftsmen created unique ornamental entrances for many of these otherwise plain houses. The built-in bookcases, window seats, raised panel walls and rustic fireplace mantles attest to the meticulous craftsmanship available for each of our homes.
